Games

Decorating a Christmas Tree

Keep a plain Christmas tree. When all the children have come, ask them to decorate the Christmas tree. Keep some decorations ready and let the children enjoy putting up the decorations and making a beautiful Christmas tree.

Who can Cap Santa

Play the game, 'Who can cap Santa'. Take a cardboard cutout of Santa Claus without the cap and hang it on the wall. Next, blindfold the children and ask them to draw a cap for Santa Claus while being blindfolded. The child should be given a red pen and has to draw the cap at the appropriate place. This game is fun and is sure to evoke a lot of laughter from the children.

Santa Says

This is a game similar to 'Simon says'. Replace the word Simon with Santa. You just have to say, Santa says 'Balance yourself on one leg' and all the children have to try to do it. If Santa says, 'Hug yourself' all the children must do it. Try to give the children some funny things to do. This is an enjoyable game for children.

Invitation Cards

Instead of preparing a usual birthday card, try adding a Christmas touch to it. Make a birthday card with a picture of your child dressed up like Santa and blowing the candles.

Christmas Birthday Decorations

As Christmas colours are red, green and white, decorate the room with balloons and festoons in the colours of red, green and white. You can also have a holly and a few bows around.

Santa Claus at the Birthday

Make any adult in your family dress up like Santa Claus and stand at the door to welcome the children. You can have the children click photos with the Santa and the birthday boy, so that they can have memories of this Christmas birthday party. At the end of the birthday party you can ask the same Santa Claus to distribute the return gifts.

Table Decorations

Since Christmas colours are green, red and white have the table decorated in these colours. Try to have paper napkins, plastic plates and the table cloth in shades of red, green and white.

Return Gifts

During the party, hand out Christmas caps and Santa Claus masks to wear for the children. For return gifts, you can hand out a bag full of Christmas goodies and candies.

Cake

Try baking or ordering a cake which looks like Santa Claus or a cake shaped like Rudolph the reindeer and other characters related to Christmas

Costumes

Since, it is a Christmas themed birthday party, you can ask children to come dressed up like characters related to Christmas.

Carols

Have a game related to Christmas carols. For example, say a word related to the carol and ask the children to guess the Christmas carol. For example, if the word is reindeer, the answer could be 'Rudolph the Red-nosed reindeer'.

If your child has his birthday on Christmas or around Christmas time and you are planning a birthday party and a Christmas party separately, you can combine both into a single party. Christmas themed birthday parties are not so common, so kids would be excited to come to such a party and will look forward to it.
