Q: I am 33 years old, and am 6 months pregnant with my first child. My job, while sedentary, involves prolonged use of computers. Can this exposure harm the foetus and if yes, what should be the maximum time spent daily on the computer?
A: There has been some research that indicates that excessive use of computers may harm the foetus, but to what extent is yet unknown to us. Most women these days are in very demanding jobs that do require a significant amount of time in front of the computer, however we have not come across any case, or heard of any case where this has been an issue. What may perhaps help is getting an anti-radiation screen fitted onto your monitor.
