Methi Theplas

Ingredients
Perfect for breakfast, lunch, teatime, or anytime!

Ingredients:

Wheat flour
Methi
Dahi (optional)
Garlic and green chillies paste (optional)
Haldi powder
Chilli powder
Salt
Oil

Method
In a wide pan, take 3 cups of flour, 2 cups of methi. Add 2 tbsp oil, garlic green chillies paste, 1/2 haldi powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder, and salt to taste. Also add 3 tbsps of dahi. Dahi helps to keep the theplas soft.

Bind the flour by gradually adding water to make soft dough. Make into small equal balls and roll them flat on a rolling board.

Then heat the tava and put the rolled theplas on medium flame. In about 30 seconds flip to the second side. Again after about 30 seconds flip again to the first side and spread some oil over it with a spoon. After some time, flip it again to the other side and spread oil on it. Keep flipping it, occasionally lightly pressing it with a ladle or spoon, until there are golden brown spots and it, and it looks cooked. Your theplas are ready.

Theplas are extremely versatile, since they can be served with dahi and pickle for breakfast, with vegetables for lunch, or with tea for teatime. Theplas are also perfect for taking on picnics or even for long trips, since they can last for a few days.

Enjoy!

(Tip: to make theplas stay longer, knead the dough extra oil and only with dahi, no water)
