Name: Ranjitha Country: India Comment: I have son of 10 months old and my hubby has to be out of station more than 20 days in a month, but they are so close to each other that some times i feel jealous of my husband that my son loves him so much. I am working women and my in laws take care of son when i am at work. I breastfeed my baby still and my hubby and in-laws help me out in every work of the baby. I feel so relaxed when they say that u take care of the household work and your health and we will look after the baby, i am very proud to have such a family. They help me out in all the work of the baby like giving him bath, changing his nappies, feeding him etc.. Name: abc Country: U.A.E. Comment: My hubby helps me with everything including weekend bath for baby, putting her to sleep almost every other night...but except diaper changes. I am tired of doing it. How can I involve him in that as well. Am I asking him for too much? Name: anny Country: India Comment: Truly nice but i suppose your mom in law was away.. When our babies were born i had twins i was so weak after the operation and my mom in law was so surious that i was asking my hubby to help.. Though he was very supportive and wanted to be a part of the experience.. Name: Priya Country: India Comment: There is nothing like being given a leg massage by my husband while breastfeeding. It is so so relaxing, and relieves a lot of stress. Name: Simran Country: India Comment: Im really glad that i read this article..I have been feeling and doing the same as Geeta did. Name: qyofynqhwa Country: Other Comment: cod overnight tramadol Name: Sharada Pramod Country: India Comment: Thats true ... Its very important to involve your life partner while up bringing the child, it helps in bonding the relationship further. The sense of not being to help on certain occasion is a common issue among husbands ... both partners should share the load & enjoy the little moments while the kid grows. Its truly an wonderful experience, we should say :-) Name: sumitha Country: India Comment: ive just had my sonfifteendays old icompletly accept that dadsrole is vital n i experience great joy n pleasure when i find myhubby sara takincarofour baby i really feel -A PROUD MOM Name: LD Country: U.S.A. Comment: Yes, the role of a husband has changed dramatically since our Dads. My experience in marriage was a similar pleasant eye opener. My husband now not only does my laundry but our baby's as well, neatly folds and puts them away too:). He helps me with our 5 month old and I did the same, always cautioning as though I have all the plugged in maternal instincts.I have begun to ease up and just enjoy the respite now. Great article!! Name: hk Country: india Comment: I think i should ask my wife to read this article very soon. Thank for the information. Name: sharm Country: malaysia Comment: yeah cool...husbands must do their role!! as they should know how hard it is for a wife to take care of her baby..so husbands should help their wife...!11 Name: ideana Country: usa Comment: my husband always feel left out now seen the baby's here now he want to be a baby so that i can give him more attention i always trie to tell him that he told me that he should start watching amanda an im going to feel the same way. Name: neetu om joshi Country: india Comment: It was nice to read geetas experience. It was really very informative.I will remember this experience and will take care that my husband is not affected negatively. Name: anu Country: dubai Comment: The article was a real eye opener... geeta is so right! until now, i had seen my husband only as chauffer and inhouse diaper man. when my daughter teja cries, i rush to her, and pick her up, even if my husband is doing his best to calm her... only with the best of intentions. I feel he must see her smiling and cooing all the time, and not her cranky moods. i stand corrected. so glad i read this article. thanks geeta! Name: suparna Country: india Comment: 'fair weather father' - finally a term to define 'it'...i would say that such a phenomenon is actively encouraged and persuaded to the point of unfairness for mothers (..esp 'first time'ones) in the indian context. fathers are traditionally excluded from all the 'bad' parts of parenting..and such attidudes are typically taught and reinforced by senior members of the family, who anyways consider themselves the last word on the subject. and the 'father'...comfortably caves in to the obvious role laid out for him. personally in my case i found my husband stretching out that bit extra , almost protesting that he did not mind the 'potty'( which i did initially) and insisted on sleeping in the same room, even when given the cosy option of blissful sleep in deep winter january in another room far away. so i guess its time to break those stereotypical mould atleast in india and just go 'dutch' Name: Mary Country: usa Comment: I have found myself in the same situation. My husband was feeling left out and accussed me of being possessive of our baby. He watches the baby on Sunday's until about 8 or 9p.m. so I can go out and have time for myself and friends. Sometimes I just sleep and try not to comment on anything he does with the baby for that period of time. Now when the baby cries I try to wait a couple of seconds before I go to the baby to give my husband a chance to make the move first. Comments on breastfeeding: try to pump some milk in a bottle so your husband or relatives can feed the baby too! Name: Hazel Country: india Comment: It was nice to read the experience of Geeta though in my case my husband Naveen is fully involved. My husband would carry the baby as I prepare myself for giving the feed. He would bring me a glass of water. He would change the nappy while I take a break from feeding my baby, as it can be back breaking and quite exhausting. I fully agree with Geeta that in all our good intentions of `protecting' our husband's we forget their need to be involved in parenting. Name: varsha Country: india Comment: I fully understand what Geeta went thru'. But smoetimes the pressure to bottlefeed also comes from my in-laws who feel deprived of more time with the baby. My husband can still be with me & Our son when I am feeding, but not the rest of the family. Name: Amelia Country: usa Comment: What a really lovely story! It has made me think about how I handle this type of situation! Name: Ishita Pandey Country: india Comment: I made the same mistake as Geeta in the article did, I didn't realise that my husband was feeling left out. Your article has made me realise that I should involve him more in looking after that baby.
