My observation about apgar scores is that babies born by the caesarian section have higher apgar scores than those born by the normal method. This may be due to the stress that a normal delivery entails on the infant. I'm saying this because my elder daughter, by vaginal delivery had an apgar of 7,8,9 while my twins born by c-s have apgars of 8,8,8, and 9,9,9 respectively, while my elder daughter was very intelligent since her infanthood.

useful information. i got a baby girl on 16.8.01. she had mucus on her throat when she was born. but now she is quite ok. should i ask the doctors for apgar score to know how my child was during birth.

This is very useful information for all parents to know, however it would be beneficial to specify that this test is an objective test and the response to the need for rescusitation is NOT dependent upon this score....would you want to wait one minute for the evaluation to begin providing the infant with help? Please pass this along to all parents!
